This story kept me enthralled from start to finish. A fantastic mix of arrogant dukeliness, intelligent maidenly innocence, beautifully written steaminess, and well thought out suspense.

This is quite the fun, old fashioned romance read. Everything from spicy romance with angst and communication confusion to the high adventure of spying, code breaking, assassination attempts and narrow escape from death by our main characters. I very much enjoyed this story.

Pearce has created an intricate story that masterfully captures the nuances of early London society and, in particular, the roles of women. Pearce turns all upside down in a beautifully written and arresting fashion! Worth the read!
